In contrast to the bulk of the fashion world, Carlijn Jacobs (b. 1991, NL) strives not for perfection but for idiosyncracy. / She retains the viewer’s attention by giving a defining role to small oddities in the image. She creates an alien, aesthetic world with dark, surrealist undertones, in which a game with perspective blurs the bound- aries between the terrestrial and the celestial, as if the model is independent of gravity. Her eye for detail and capturing an undefined kind of beauty is a big part of her work. She creates refreshing, new, but always aesthetic photographs. She knows how to turn her creative line of thoughts into a complete image that you won’t forget.
Carlijn Jacobs completed her studies in Lifestyle and Design cum laude at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam in 2014. She has shot work for publications such as I-D Magazine, Glamcult, Novembre Magazine and Sleek Magazine. Carlijn Jacobs’ series Vivian Atlantis (2016) is currently on display in Foam 3h: PS | Carlijn Jacobs, simultaneously with Helmut Newton - A Retrospective (17 June – 4 September 2016).
